Our daily mission here in Istanbul is meeting people. Of course, mainly African people since (IN)VISIBLE CITIES focuses on them. So for the past week we met a craftswoman, a singer, an artist, a journalist, a graphic designer and two students at the best universities in Turkey. These are the kind of people we want to tell about to the world through our documentary. Not that the situation in Istanbul is easy: some have told us they often experience jealousy at work because of their skin color or Turks take hidden pictures of them or people rub their skin to see if the color comes off. And all of them have different stories, some sound incredible, others extremely brave and dangerous. We hope we’ll be able to narrate those in the least stereotypical way possible. That’s why Gianpaolo is already at work editing. We’re looking forward to tell you those stories.
